Transistor Film is a by-youth community cultural development program where young people and marginalised communities are given the platform and tools to create original films that reflect their lived experiences. The program addresses access and equity issues by working in partnership with supporting agencies and securing project funding so that the programs can be free (or heavily subsidised).

Since its inception in 2015 over 500 Young people have been involved in creating a theatre production, 55 short films, 3 web series and had their films viewed at Tasmania’s Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival (2016 & 2018), Light up the Lanes (2016, 2017 and 2018), Transistor Youth Film Festival (2017, 2018), REMADE (2016, 2017) and exhibited at the University of Melbourne as part of Art, Place & Stigma (2017).
